Save money using less energy in your homes

Come and hear how you or your business can save money and be a part of a fuel switching revolution.
Tim Forcey, an Energy Advisor at University of Melbourne Energy Institute recently completed research with the University of Melbourne Energy Institute that found that gas demand in Eastern Australia could fall by as much as half in the next decade, one reason being that electric appliances are now much more cost-efficient than their gas counterparts. The research also found that switching from gas could create huge money saving opportunities for home owners, renters, and even small businesses.

Spring Creek Community Precinct Structure Plan

There is a lot of community energy behind this plan. The logic behind it is based on a realistic conversation about climate change, reversing species decline and liveability in this 21st century.

Grow It

This month Perry Mills from Danawa Community Garden shares some thoughts about what to do in the garden in Autumn.
“Feeling the turning of the seasons now?  This last week has brought a couple of colder nights which has seen the autumn foliage begin to colour up.
You will find that the colder conditions will also see the end of any of the tender summer annuals in the garden, so it’s time to :

  • harvest the last of the basil in the garden and turn it into pesto before it goes yellow and spotty!
  • clear out beds of summer crops and plant broccoli, cabbage, parsnip, kale onion, broad beans, spinach, peas and winter greens.  If you plant them while the soil is still warm they’ll we well-advanced when the cold weather comes and will be slowly productive over winter, but if you miss your autumn planting the seedlings will remain small all over winter.
  • throw seed down for a crop of green manure, to be dug into the ground in early spring when you’re ready to plant.”

Head to Danawa’s website for more.
