Reducing Water
Consumption
Climate change is expected to make our climate hotter and drier. While we have recently experienced some wetter periods, the expectation is that there will be less rainfall in the future. Yet the population of Geelong and the Surf Coast is expected to continue to escalate.
Barwon Water reports that they currently supply 35 billion litres of water. They also say that we will need to find or save 5 billion extra litres every 5 years for the next 50 years because of population growth and less rainfall. Our local water supply is severely challenged and we all will need to use less water.
