We are thrilled to have as our guest speaker Associate Professor Barbara Wilson OAM. Barbara is an Internationally recognised conservation scientist with 40 years’ experience in government and academia (Deakin, Murdoch, UWA, Yale, Göttingen). She leads research teams focused on understanding sustainable management of Australian ecosystems and has extensive experience in development and implementation of state and commonwealth conservation legislation, policy and strategy, and community consultation and collaboration.Barbara has conducted long term research and monitoring of native mammals in the eastern Otways that has revealed significant declines in communities and threatened species; assessed the impacts of threats (fire, climate change, the plant pathogen P. cinnamomi) and provided important information to activate effective management and conservation actions. This presentation summarises the achievements of these collaborative land and species management projects.
