In January 2024, the Victorian Government made history by ending native forest logging in the east of the state. This decision safeguarded the mountain ash forests of the Central Highlands, home to the world’s tallest flowering plant and one of Australia’s most endangered mammals, the Leadbeater’s possum. These tall forests store immense amounts of carbon and are vital to Melbourne’s water catchment. The public consultation on the future of these forests will close soon. Tell the Victorian Government it’s time to protect the mountain ash forests of the Central Highlands and establish the Great Forest National Park. Take Action This film series explores the life of a unique and precious ecosystem on the doorstep of Melbourne and advocates for why its biodiversity, water, and culture should be protected.
